Ancient Engines

Ancient Engines by Michael Swanwick. A short story about a conversation between an android, the man who created it, and the man's granddaughter. The discussion centers around immortality and robots, and what the ideal immortal and adaptable robot would be. The end reveals the hidden (unless you're quicker-witted than I am) motives of the characters and brings the story to a nice close. Recommended.
